World's Fairs in colonial Australia

By 1901 -- 113 years after the first convicts arrived in chains -- there had been 26 World's Fairs in Australia (according to Wikipedia).

Despite the several months and great expense that it took for people to sail from the Northen Hemisphere to distant places like Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, sail they did. In the same period, there were 21 World's Fairs in the USA, with its population 17 times greater than Australia's. Mighty England had only 17 in that period.
