Dr Hamlin and the curse of fistula in poor women

Highly recommended
"The Australian gynaecologist Dr Catherine Hamlin has been working in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia for the last 45 years [actually, 48 years -- PW].

"She's famous for her work with women suffering from a devastating childbirth injury known as a fistula -- a hole between the bladder and the rectum which results in permanent incontinence.

"Catherine and her husband Dr Reg Hamlin founded the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital where they pioneered a surgical treatment which completely cures 93 percent of fistula sufferers.

"Now more hospitals have opened to treat women and help them return their villages.

"Catherine's work has now been documented in a new film 'A Walk To Beautiful', which follows five women in Ethiopia whose lives have been transformed by their treatment at the hospital."
