The mighty pav

Today according to Australian Eastern Standard Time when this item was posted
1935 Chef Bert Sachse of the Esplanade Hotel, Perth, Western Australia created the pavlova, named after Anna Pavlova (1881 - 1931), the Russian ballerina whose Australian tours in 1926 and '29 had been very popular.

It's unlikely that the pavlova was invented in 1935. New Zealand recipe books contained the recipe from as early as 1929. It is possible that Sachse developed the recipe much earlier. After all, Anna Pavlova visited Australia in 1926 and 1929 and died in 1931.

Thanx, Duncan. I'd be very pleased to see evidence that the recipe was published before 1935, especially if in NZ. I haven't come across such evidence.
