What motivated the 9/11 hijackers?

As we've noted here before, Bush and Co. like to invent fanciful motives for the 9/11 attack, but it is quite clear that the basic animosity of the Islamist extremists is the USA's support for Israel and its illegal occupation of Palestine.

The conservatives continually say the extremists "hate our freedoms" and use this myth to progressively rob people in the Western world of freedoms bought with blood over a thousand years of civilization. There is a grain of truth in what they say, but a lie that is half a truth was ever the worst of lies.
