Barter system returns in Recession

"While sales slide at behemoths like Microsoft, Starbucks and Boeing, a growing number of smaller companies are seeing profits climb by tapping into the oldest form of commerce: the barter system.

"The barter site Biz Exchange charges companies a one-time fee of $800 to join, then makes a commission on every barter between members. Trades are up 25 percent over last year, with nearly $4.5 million worth of goods and services a month exchanged cash-free ..."
