Folklore from the fair-day of Tenbury Wells, UK
In Worcestershire, England, there was a saying that in that county you never hear the cuckoo before Tenbury fair-day, or after Pershore fair-day, which is June 26.
Note the traditional rhyme:
In April the cuckoo shows his bill;Categories: uk, folklore, calendar-customs, phenology
In May he sings all day;
In June he alters his tune;
In July away he'll fly;
In August fly he must.
