The voices are still silent

In 1957, when the USA helped Iran establish its nuclear power program, what conservative Westerners would have allowed that 50 years later the US would be in conflict over it?

Now that America is to do the same for Egypt, the voices are still silent. We might add, the IAEA is studying requests by 77 countries which are exploring nuclear energy as a potential option (source).
