Execution of Sacco and Vanzetti
1927 In America, Italian anarchists Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, Italian-born anarchist labor militants, were executed by electric chair for their alleged murder of a factory paymaster and guard on April 15, 1920.
Their guilt in the crimes has been hotly contested ever since. Their execution was the culmination of a five-year government campaign to crush political dissidents (particularly socialist and anarchist workers) in the USA.
