Is the Dharma still free?

The Dalai Lama tour of Australia takes place this year. According to tour organizers, His Holiness gets his biggest audiences Down Under.

This will be the Dalai Lama's fifth visit to our shores. For his first, in 1982, the nine-bedroom communal house I shared with seven adults and a couple of kids was briefly considered as the place HH would stay with his entourage. It was a big house, but it had seen better days. We all felt honoured that we might have to move out for a few days.

No such plans with hippies would likely be made today. The organizers have got such a program together -- sponsors, tickets, merchandizing -- that it makes you wonder if the Dharma is still free.
