High res Google Maps photos of Sydneysiders

Baz le Tuff has alerted me to the new high-resolution images of parts of Sydney at Google Maps Australia. The pictures were taken by a Google chartered plane on Australia Day, January 26.

Among others, you can see sunbakers on Bondi Beach and people at Circular Quay.

"The new photos, captured by a specially-equipped chartered twin-engine Aero Commander which flew over parts of Sydney on January 26, are among the highest resolution images available on Google Maps.

"It was the first time that Google had planned and publicised ahead of time a flyover covering large swathes of an urban area."
