Google Desktop Search with sidebar
I've used Google Desktop Search for a year or two and it's a free product I love and use almost daily. Three days ago I was rather annoyed by the new sidebar that comes with that product, which I had to reinstal after a computer failure.
Today, I'm very glad to have that sidebar. I just discovered that if you go to Options/Add Gadget, you have a choice of more than 500 'gadgets' that can easily be added to or removed from the sidebar. Everything from calendars, scratch pads, 'to do' lists, weather, news, moon phases, games, puzzles and much more. The sidebar itself can be made to slide on or off screen with mouseover, which is very nifty. It's very clever engineering and I highly recommend it.
It's cool that Google gives programmers and designers the software to make these gadgets. Now, if I can just find a way to make the daily Almanac a Google sidebar gadget ... any designers out there with too much time on their hands?
No? That's what I thought.
