April 29, a big day for Niagara Falls
1925
Bobby Leach ('The Canadian Daredevil'),
a native of
Cornwall,
UK, who had been the first man over Niagara Falls
in a barrel, did not long survive this day's close encounter with a piece of
orange
peel. In
New Zealand, while on a
Down Under tour
which included
Aotearoa, the
Land of the
Long White Cloud and its neighbour,
Australia, Leach slipped on said peel,
injured himself, and soon contracted
gangrene, to which he succumbed (April
26,
1926). He is buried in New Zealand (see his
grave's
headstone).Wilson's Webcam Watch
