Death of Emily Davison

http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/book/jun4.html 1913 Emily Davison, British suffragette and member of the Women's Social and Political Union, tried to grab the reins of King George V's horse, Anmer, as it rounded Tattenham Corner at the Epsom Derby. Film footage of the incident still survives.

She fell beneath the horse and was trampled, receiving critical injuries and died on June 8, never having regained consciousness. Her very large funeral was held on June 14 (qv).
