Gilbert of Gilbert & Sullivan drowned

From On May 29, 1911, British librettist (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame), dramatist and cartoonist, William Schwenck Gilbert (b. 1836), suffered a heart attack and drowned in a lake on his property at Grim's Dyke while trying to rescue one of two women to whom he was giving swimming lessons.

With Arthur Sullivan (1842 - 1900), Gilbert had formed one half of the successful Gilbert and Sullivan comical opera team.
