Happy 80th birthday Gene Sharp

We note that unsung non-violence strategist, Gene Sharp, turns 80 today, and we wish him a very happy birthday.

It's hard to imagine a relatively unknown person who has been more important to the world, although Permaculture co-creator, Bill Mollison (who also is 80 this year), must surely be a contender. A working knowledge of the principles that these two old geniuses have espoused for so long is a good beginning to creating solutions to the world's major problems. After all, it all comes down to soil and power, does it not?

These two have had many accolades, but wouldn't it be fitting if they also had celebrity? After all, Paris Hilton and Michael Jackson do.

PS Anyone know Bill's date of birth?
