1978 Sex Pistols guitarist Sid Vicious (1957 - '79), was arrested in New York and charged with the stabbing murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, in Room 100 of the famous Chelsea Hotel.

Vicious claimed to have no memory at all of the previous night's incidents. Bail of $50,000 was put up by Virgin Records at the request of Malcolm McLaren.
