Hacking Democracy

It's interesting that even the documentary film narrator in Hacking Democracy calls the USA "the world's greatest democracy", and in the documentary so does John Kerry, who was shafted in the 2004 Presidential election. Old habits die hard, I guess, but I wonder if it's just habit that has too many of our American cousins parrot this favourite phrase, or if they have actually done a comparison of the world's democratic nations to reach their remarkable conclusion.
