John Howard the chunder maker

Australia's prime minister, John Howard, is a consummate politician but a charlatan.

He says:

"In a protracted drought, and with the prospect of long-term climate change, we need radical and permanent change."

For 35 years conservatives like him have called people like me "dirty rotten hippies and tree-huggers" because we have been screaming about global warming. Now he is quite happy to bend with the wind. This bloke is as chunder-making as Bush.

Howard's so-called "plan" for Australia's water crisis is a $7.8 billion folly that does not address the root causes of this and other Australian environmental catastrophes. Howard's solution isn't one bit "radical"; let's hope it is not "permanent".
