Japanese sub found

In about 2001 and 2002, the Almanac was almanacked at Narrabeen, a northern beach suburb of Sydney (remember "Australia's Narrabeen" in the Beach Boys' 'Surfin' USA'; Narrabeen is also the place where an Australian woman first flew an aircraft). I have quite fond memories of the beach.

This week it was confirmed that a wreck found near there is the remnant of a Japanese submarine that was involved in a raid on Sydney Harbour during WWII, on May 31, 1942, with a plan to attack the American battle cruiser USS Chicago. The Australian ship Kuttabul was torpedoed in this raid, with the loss of 21 lives. Two bodies are believed to be in the mini-sub.
