He painted it between 1985-86 - probably because John Lennon had asked him to do an album cover.

Warhol is like a Ford car. He used other peoples idea's and images to make himself famous. He worshiped anyone who came from a wealthy family and had fame.

Sadly he has changed the direction art has taken - sadly, as there is nothing inspirational about DH

If Andy Warhol painted it, why did he painted it with lights in the eyes??? This is a bad joke.

Hi Anna. The main reason for the connection between Lennon and Warhol was due to Yoko. When john met Yoko he started to mix with and gain an interest in the avant-garde movement. He had also stated his love of the Maralyn Monroe image produced by Warhol. They also had a shared interest in the work of Salvidor Dali. And there was also a link between Lennon & Warhol through Bob Dylan.
